Nursery Guidelines
Sunday School---1 worker                          Sunday AM---3 workers

Sunday PM---2 workers                              Wednesday---2 workers

-If you cannot work your scheduled time, you MUST find a replacement. If you cannot find one, you need to call Daylin. Look at the schedule and see who you can switch time slots with.

-If you are scheduled to work during a service, you should not have other commitments during that service. Make other arrangements(choir, sound, music, children’s ministry, etc.).

-Nursery schedule is always listed in the bulletin.

-All parents of children in the nursery are asked to serve each month.

-Only parents may pick up children from the nursery.

-The gates in front of the doors are not to ever come off. Always lift children over them. Do not allow the children to play or lean on them.

-During services, close the doors so that the crying or yelling is quieter for those in the auditorium.

-Label all bags, sippy cups, bottles, or other personal items.

-Make sure the children are playing with age appropriate toys. (big kids shouldn’t play with infant toys and infants can easily get hurt with big kids’ toys.)

-Look at signs posted around the room. Follow those guidelines(sheets, blankets, puzzles, cleaning processes, etc.).

-Play with the kids. Sing, read books, play calm games, be creative. Don’t just sit on the chair in the corner watching them. This is an opportunity to minister to these kids—and their parents.

-Parents sign their child in each time they bring them to the nursery. Don’t get lazy with this. Put the child’s bag in the corresponding cubby or hook.

-Change all diapers before the end of the service. Then empty trash. New bags are in the bottom of the garbage can. Put full bag outside church building in the trash container.

-All toys that are placed in a child’s mouth MUST be put in the basket in the hall to be cleaned.

-If children are sick, they may not come to the nursery. SICK means---diarrhea, vomiting, severe cough, non-clear nasal discharge or a fever within 24 hours. We want the kids to be healthy, so PLEASE be considerate.

-Look at guide sheets posted by the door for what to do before you leave the nursery after working. Leave it better than you found it.

-Children are NEVER to be picked up by their arms. Always pick them up around their torso.

-Nursery workers are not parents. Although we do not intend on the children getting away with doing wrong, we cannot discipline like parents can. NEVER raise your voice to any child. Instead of getting angry or frustrated, tell the child NO, and redirect them to something else.

-Parents need to know when their child had a tough day and when they had a great day. COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS!!!

-Have the kids help you clean up the room before the end of the service.
